The game of live dealer online Baccarat
Baccarat has always been somewhat of a mystery to new online casino players, passed over in favour of more well-known games such as Blackjack, Roulette or pokies. Now, however, with the introduction of live dealer online casino Baccarat, more and more Australian online casino players are warming to this thrilling game, thanks to the addition of a live dealer and live opponents too!
If you're new to the concept of live dealer online casinos, you're in for a real treat. While traditional online casinos digitise the usual casino environment with animated graphics and sound effects, live dealer online casinos bring you a completely true-to-life casino experience through the media of streaming video. You'll have real casino tables manned by real casino croupiers, and you'll have real opponents on either side of you as well. What's more, you'll be able to chat and interact with your dealer and opponents too, thanks to a handy chat box included for just that purpose. If there's a more realistic virtual casino experience out there, we haven't found it yet!
How to play
Australian players are more savvy than most, being part of the largest online casino market in the world, so chances are you may already know how to play online casino Baccarat. If you do, you'll see that it's virtually the same as live dealer Baccarat, so there won't be much more for you to learn (although you could take advantage of exciting new features like "card peek", which allows the highest staking player per position to take a peek before other players see the cards).
If you've never played online Baccarat before though, you may want to brush up on your knowledge of the game first. Essentially Baccarat involves you betting on one of three possible outcomes - whether the positions known as Player or Banker will have the higher ranked hand, or whether there will be a Tie. Two cards are then each dealt to the Player and Banker positions, and the hand with the total value closest to 9 is the winner. If the value of both hands is equal, then a Tie is declared.
While the rules of the game are fairly simple (just bet on an outcome and let the dealer do the rest), the scoring of Baccarat does take some getting used to. Tens and face cards are worth 0, Aces are worth 1, and all other cards are worth their face value. What's more, only the final digit in a total value counts, so if one hand consists of a 5 and a 7, the total value of the hand is not 12, but 2 instead. It may seem a little tricky at first, but the more you play the more experienced you'll become, and the better feel you'll get for the game itself.
Baccarat has been a favourite of the aristocracy and the upper classes for centuries, and now with its evolution into the world of virtual gaming, and live dealer online casinos in particular, it's attracting a new generation of players to its tables.
